About Perinatal & Postpartum Counseling

The transition to parenthood is a profound shift that can be both joyous and incredibly fragile. Postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety go beyond the “baby blues,” affecting a mother’s ability to bond and enjoy daily life. We offer specialized care for expectant and new parents, providing a compassionate space to navigate the realities of exhaustion, irritability, and the emotional complexities of a new family dynamic.

How Counseling Works

Postpartum recovery requires a high level of empathy and non-judgmental support. In our sessions, we educate parents on what PPD is—and what it isn’t—to reduce the stigma and guilt often associated with it. We listen without judgment, helping you process deep sadness or anxiety while encouraging small acts of self-care. We move at your pace, focusing on stabilizing your mood and strengthening your relationship with your baby and yourself.

How do I begin the counseling process?

We try to make it as simple as possible. You can either reach out to us directly via message on the “contact us” page or by phone 720-432-3496. From there, we will ask for a bit of background information and then offer up availability that closest matches your needs. Once an appointment is made, your counselor will reach out to you via email to send you a link to our client portal, which will have all appropriate documents and will confirm your appointment time.

This is typically decided after your first session between you and your counselor. Most counselors will recommend starting with 1x/week to begin building rapport. Depending on the severity of issues, what you’ve budgeted for, and your own personal thoughts/counselors perceptions, session frequency will be decided. Counseling should never be forced nor stressful. Therefore, we work with you to figure out the best path moving forward.

You and your counselor can decide what your treatment will look like. For the most part, our counselors try to be there for you outside of sessions for small or minor concerns. For most calls outside of 10 minutes or more, there may be a charge but this will be discussed in your contract. For small check-ins or if you require some quick support, we are here to help you outside of your sessions!

At this time, most of our clinician’s do accept insurance. Some counselors, however, are only out of pocket for the time being. Please take a look at the “Meet Our Counselors” page to see a list of who accepts insurance and who does not. For those paying out of pocket, payment is due at the time of your appointment. Peaks Counseling can provide you with a statement to submit to your insurance company upon request. Depending on your “out of network” coverage you may or may not be reimbursed, the amount and decision is solely up to your insurance company.
Peaks Counseling is located 20 minutes outside of Denver just off the I-25 corridor in the Denver Tech Center. Our address is located in Centennial, Colorado which also borders Greenwood Village. We are also conveniently located near Cherry Creek, Littleton, and Douglas County school districts.
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, no problem! We understand that life happens. Our only request is that you provide at least 24-hour notice, otherwise your session will be billed at the full rate.
