Hi, I’m Thea Pearman, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) and it’s nice to meet you! As a Marriage, Family and Child/Adolescent Therapist with over 25 years of counseling experience, I can confidentially say that crossing the bridge for help might be the most challenging for most people. Life is difficult, and each day we seem to get more challenges in work, home and relationships we are in. While we can’t change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life and find solid ground in the process, so you have more peace of mind. My approach to counseling is both systemic (in relationships and interactional patterns with others) and cognitive-behavioral in nature to help you navigate a more peaceful place in life. By applying complementary counseling approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Children and Teens have their help as well, tailoring to how they best learn through play techniques, art/sand and other forms that help them engage to grow both non-directive and directive play techniques. Self-Esteem can improve with counseling and goal-oriented help.
For those who are struggling with relationship issues, marriage counseling can help you identify areas that are creating negative patterns and help you with improvements in communication, intimacy and open new paths to dialogue in key areas.

A Look into My Therapeutic Approaches:
Children (7+) – Middle School:
I use non-directive and directive play counseling techniques like art, sand, drawing, games, and storytelling to help children process their emotions and thoughts with challenges like anxiety, depression, grief or ADHD.
Older Children (11 +) and Teens:
I use “talk counseling” and we explore techniques that help with anxiety, mood management, assertiveness and relationship/boundaries that can aid in confidence in school, friendships and the drama of socializing with peers
Individuals and Couples:
I assist with life transitions like new parenthood, moves, or career shifts and college to name a few. Sometimes its communication issues, relationship challenges or hard situations like marital infidelity and partner betrayal. Identifying strengths, finding healthier coping strategies, and defining boundaries so that trust can be ignited again are just some of the topics we might be exploring in counseling. My therapeutic approach is through the lens of family systems and Cognitive Behavioral Counseling (CBT).

Whether you are a in a marital relationship, single, or even a child or teen, my approach is warm, understanding, and deliberately directive to open new opportunities for your personal growth when life has felt like one big block. You will find hope is right there waiting for you to discover all along. I congratulate you on taking this step as I know it’s not easy, but it can yield good things in your life.

If you’re looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging life situation, personal anxiety or depression or you’re just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals and seeing your success!
